Indianapolis Colts Placed on Injured Reserve

The Indianapolis Colts football team has officially been placed on the injured reserve list for the remainder of the season, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell reports. The Colts are the only team in the history of the league to successfully place its entire team on the injured reserve. The Detroit Lions attempted the same move during their infamous 0-16 season, but were denied.

After Peyton Manning was declared to be injured for at least the remainder of this season, NFL fans and commentators joked that the entire Colts team was injured. But now, even despite the legitimacy of the alleged injuries, the team is officially “injured.” The types of injuries range from sprained ankles to turf toe and even damaged egos.

The Colts have to forfeit their games for as long as they are on IR. Other coaches speculate that that they may stay on the list for as long as Peyton Manning is hurt.

“We assumed we were going to lose those games anyway,” Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell told the DailyER. “I just said fuck it. I mean, our whole team got injured in some freak practice. Yeah.” Caldwell’s eyes darted around the room, and he got up, knocking the chair over, saying he had to get to physical therapy.

The future of the Indianapolis Colts is uncertain. One would assume the team will resume playing games as soon as their future Hall of Fame quarterback returns. If he, for some reason, is unable to return to the NFL, the Colts could quite possibly be dismantled as a franchise entirely.
