In times of uncertainty, things are starting to become a little more certain for everyone. Hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, students had to quickly adjust to online class schedules for the remainder of the spring semester and into the summer semester. However, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Ronnie Green provided some clarity for Husker students in Lincoln and abroad on class schedules going forward. Chancellor Green announced recently that classes at UNL will be held on campus in the fall. This announcement was to much excitement from the student body itching to get back on campus, especially this business major, who simply can’t wait to start skipping class in-person come August.
Riley Rogers, a sophomore business administration major from Gretna, NE, has become some sort of professional class skipper in his undergraduate tenure at UNL.
“I skip class like it’s my day job,” said Rogers, in an exclusive Zoom interview with The DailyER. “Like, why does any of this even matter, man? C’s get degrees, y’know what I mean, brochacho?”
With all classes moving online for the remainder of the spring 2020 semester and the entirety of the summer 2020 semester, things seemed to be setting up real nicely for Rogers to continue skipping class. However, as the semester progressed, things were not feeling the same for Rogers.
“With classes going virtual and all, I was skipping class like nobody’s business! Like, talk about an extended spring break, am I right, Teddy Brosevelt? But, like, I got tired of it after a while. Like, I actually logged into a Zoom session. I was that desperate. Skipping online class just seemed too easy, you pick up what I’m throwing down, Brohemian Rhapsody? Now that Chance the Rapper Ronnie Green said classes are moving back on-campus, I was so pumped! Now I can finally skip classes for real, yo. Get things back to the way they used to be.”
Representatives at The DailyER prepared some follow-up questions to ask Rogers regarding his schedule in the fall semester and set up a meeting to get further information, but it appears Rogers skipped out on the meeting.
