Years after receiving his Bachelor’s in Film and New Media from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, aspiring director Trevor Davidson is reaching new heights that most people his age do not reach. While he has never made a film outside of college, and has no prospects of ever becoming a working director, he’s somehow receiving accolades left and right.
Just last week, Davidson was announced as a finalist for an award that could change the fortunes of his life: an Oscar Isaac 27×40 poster that looks good on any wall.
Davidson has steep competition for the prize but is confident that his pedigree will put him over the edge.
“I stuffed the ballots pretty hard, I’d imagine I’ll have a 10:1 chance of someone drawing my name,” Davidson said. “If I get this Oscar Isaac poster, it would change my life, it would look so good in my room.”
This is Davidson’s first nomination for the poster after two previous attempts to garner the award. If he were to win, he would be the first recipient to care about actually winning.
Other nominees for the coveted prize acknowledged that the poster looks good, but they did not share the same passion as Davidson.
“I mean, it’s a nice poster, but I’m not waiting with bated breath to win,” another finalist, Stacy Manson said. “I like Oscar Isaac, but framing it is going to be expensive, so I’ll probably just give it away.”
Davidson may be the only one who cares whether he wins or loses, but he’s not letting his guard down.
“I want this award, I want that Oscar. Gimme that poster,” Davidson yelled to a random crowd of people. “I’ll never achieve anything of as much significance as this poster right now.”
