If you’re anything like us, losing NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” was like losing a friend. We laughed, learned and loved with the local government of Pawnee, Indiana. Even a week after the finale, it’s tough to imagine a TV season without our favorite cast of characters. Luckily, you don’t have to. The DailyER has assembled a list of five parks and recreation departments you’ll fall in love with all over again!
- Aurora, Ohio. This parks and rec department may not have libertarian boss Ron Swanson to keep its Leslie Knope on her toes, but it doesn’t not not have Ron Swanson if you get what we’re saying.
- Grand Haven, Michigan. Aimed at fans nostalgic for the show’s first six-episode season, this department is bad.
- Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. “Parks and Recreation” invited us into its offices every Thursday night. The Bloomsburg parks office can be entered Thursday night or any night of the week if you hit the back door with your shoulder hard enough.
- Sioux City, Iowa. Introduced in season two to help Pawnee’s budget crisis, Ben Wyatt stole America’s hearts. Sioux City’s local government also has a serious cash flow problem and it needs to be saved (hopefully by a cutie).
- Ponca, Nebraska. Jerry Gergich was the butt of all jokes on the show, but luckily the finale gave him the last laugh. The same cannot be said for bullied Ponca employee Tim Mickelson, who after asking HR for help, will start calling in sick and eventually look for a new job. Happy trails Tim!
