Freshman Husker’s player Kevin Gladney is many things.
He’s a wide receiver, a promising NFL prospect and an all-around good student, but after dropping a pass during scrimmage yesterday, nothing else mattered to Gladney.
“I just don’t get how I could do that to my teammates,” Gladney said. “I’m such an idiot. No wonder my father always gets after me about not playing for an SEC team.”
In an effort to prevent further gaffs on the field, Gladney has also dropped all of this college courses.
“I figure if I drop a bunch of stuff now, it’s only going to help my future,” Gladney said. “I’d rather my professors and advisors be disappointed in me than 90,000 strangers who’ll forget me in three years’ time.”
While some are calling his decision brave, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst made an appeal to the redshirt freshmen, who is no longer legally allowed to play this season, that education should always come first.
“For all redshirts, classes come first, “ Eichorst said. “Eh, who am I kidding, dude, just go back to class. Tell your professors to talk to me if they have a problem.”
