Citing that he feels as if he is in another world when this song comes on at a party, local part-time janitor Kevin Michaels slid to the left and confessed that he really does love the Cha-Cha Slide.
“I’ve never been much of a dancer,” said Michaels. “But that’s the beauty of the Cha-Cha Slide. Nobody is better than anyone else.”
Michaels went on to say that the egalitarian nature of the Cha-Cha Slide was only one of its many draws.
“If the only appeal of the dance involved everyone doing the same thing, there’s no way it would have this kind of success,” said Michaels. “But the thing is, that’s not all. The moves are both hip and fun.”
To prove his point, Michaels demonstrated, for a group of reporters, a few staples of the hit song.
“See, it’s as simple as a step to the left,” said Michaels. “And a step to the right. But here’s where it gets interesting: We hop!”
Reporters present on the scene confirmed Michaels completed the demonstration with heavy breathing, a small bead of sweat on his forehead and an empty smile on his face.
Following his lesson on how to participate in the song, Michaels reportedly began to play the Cha-Cha Slide on loop, blasting his portable speaker at its highest level.
As of 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, sources confirmed that Michaels was still offering an enthusiastic solo performance of the dance when the last remaining audience members quietly slipped out the door.
