Husker football fans will tune into a new TV station this Saturday to catch the latest Nebraska game. The Big Ten Conference announced the primetime game between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Nebraska Cornhuskers will kickoff at 6:30 p.m. and will air on Comedy Central, moving over from Fox Sports 1.
Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany held a press conference on Monday to announce the TV channel switch. “We thought this was the best opportunity for us logistically. Most fans were looking forward to a good game, but after Nebraska’s performance against Wisconsin last Saturday, as well as recalling the performance by Nebraska last year in Columbus, we felt the need to make the program switch.”
The majority of Nebraska fans reacted negatively to the news. Husker super fan Johnny Bones told The DailyER in a statement, “I don’t even have that channel! I normally watch at home, but I guess I’ll have to find a place that has Comedy Central. I can’t believe the Big Ten would move the game like that without taking the fans into consideration.”
But at least one Husker fan thought the program switch was fitting. “Every time I watch this team, I laugh,” said long-time Husker fan Bon Jones. “Nothing like following up Key and Peele reruns with the laughing stock of the Big Ten, the Nebraska Suckers.”
Husker coach Mike Riley spoke to the media ahead of the Ohio State matchup. “I like the direction this team is heading in,” Riley said. “We’ve been preparing all week to embarrass ourselves this Saturday night. Tanner Lee has been running pick-six routes non-stop and our defense has been working on missing tackles. It has been a successful week of practice, and we’ll keep the audience laughing the whole night this weekend, that’s for sure.”
