For many college students, renting their first off-campus property can be a very stressful experience. There are so many ways to get burned in a bum house deal, which is one of the reasons finding the perfect house seems like such an accomplishment. University of Nebraska sophomore Rick Nathers thought he had found just the perfect place in Indianapolis until his unappreciative roommates started complaining about a potential 1019-mile walk to CBA in the winter. At an emergency roommate meeting on Thursday Rick did his best to address any potential concerns.

“Yeah I just talked to them a bit, but I don’t know if I got through to them. They just all seem so hung up on the ‘located in a different state thing’ and not the ‘beautiful hardwood floors, pets allowed’ aspect.”

Nathers just wishes they could over look the distance relative to typical UNL students housing and compare it to the vast reaches of space.

“I thought I knew these guys when we lived together in Abel, but last year those guys never would have missed a chance to live in the old home of Indianapolis legend Bill ‘Fishbait’ Miller. This year I’m just not so sure.”

The sophomore admits that one of the reasons he chose the house was for the game day experience, and he can’t wait to hear the 10 second game delay from his FM radio as aims his telescope toward the general direction of Memorial Stadium.

Nathers’ final ploy was a gentle reminder to his roommates of how much their parents had wanted them to go an out-of-state school.

“Two years into your college experience and you could be attending UNL as out-of-state kings,” Nathers preached to his roommates.

Unfortunately, despite his passionate defense of the post-Peyton Manning housing market, even his last supporter switched his housing vote to a state with four states between him and the North Bottoms.
