Tim Beck is ready. Beck, Nebraska’s new Offensive Coordinator, can’t wait to meet the fans at this year’s spring game. The only problem is that he’s not sure what to wear
“I’m super excited to show all the Husker fans the new offense they are going to see,” Beck said. “But I’m not quite sure what I’m going to wear yet.”
Beck said that he had planned on wearing a full suit, with tie and jacket, until his counterpart, Bo Pelini, asked him not to.
“Pelini asked me not to dress too nicely because he was just planning on wearing an old t-shirt and shorts, which I totally understand. I don’t want to show up my defensive counterpart,” Beck said.
“But the problem is, he’s already been here three years, so the fans know him. For me, this is my first head coaching job. I’ve got to make a good impression.”
While it may not seem like a big deal, Beck points out that fans turned on Bill Callahan after he wore a Beatles shirt to the Spring Game.
“He didn’t know it, but Nebraskans are Elvis fans, not Beatles fans. It was his first impression and immediately fans knew he wasn’t one of them,” Beck said.
“I can’t afford to make that same mistake. Hey — maybe I’ll come dressed as Elvis. Now that’s an idea.”
