The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is turning 150 on Feb. 15 and the university is declining to comment about any of it.
“I’ll talk to you about the present,” the university said. “But the past is the past.”
It is rumored that it doesn’t like being told how long it’s been around because it makes it feel “old and decrepit” even though The DailyER staff knows UNL is still hip.
“I try to keep up with all the new trends,” the university said. “I’m going green, I don’t use straws — what else do you want?”
Chancellor Ronnie Green said he remembers when the university was living large in its heyday.
“It was a sight to see,” Green said. “There were leaves on trees and happiness in the air.”
Green said he hopes the university will maintain its youthfulness for as long as possible — even for another 150 years.
“That’s a long time,” the university responded. “I just want to get to 2020.”
