In a rather disappointing start to the Husker football season, things got even worse Saturday during the post-game press conference following the Huskers’ loss to Purdue. First-year Nebraska head coach Scott Frost shocked the nation when he announced that he plans on stepping down soon.
“This is something that I’ve been mulling over for some time now,” said Scott Frost, to a room full of sports reporters. “I knew this time would come at some point. I just didn’t think I would be stepping down this soon.”
According to reports, Frost met with Nebraska Director of Athletics Bill Moos prior to taking the podium following the Purdue game to discuss his plans to step down. The DailyER was able to get a comment from Moos on his discussion with Frost.
“Scott [Frost] came up to me after the game and laid out his plans to me, plain and simple,” said Moos. “He explained every detail of his master plan to me and said the timing was right. I didn’t hesitate or flinch one bit. I have all the trust in the world that this man can really do no wrong and that he is making the best decisions for everyone around him.”
Reporters shot their hands straight into the air after Frost’s unexpected announcement, hoping to get some answers. One reporter asked, “Why so soon?”
“I talked with the players, my staff, and even my family. Everyone was on the same page as me. This was my time to step down. And with that, this interview is concluded. Thank you and see you guys next week.” Scott Frost then proceeded to step down from the podium following his press conference. Coach Frost and the Big Red are back in action next Saturday against Wisconsin.
