It was a nice and long break for freshman Jim Johnson.
After spending three weeks with family and trying to avoid high school friends, Johnson was exhausted.
When he arrived back to his Abel North dorm room Sunday night, he knew what he needed to do. It was officially nap time.
He brushed his teeth, put on his pajamas, turned on Netflix and passed out without setting an alarm.
“That’s honestly where I messed up,” Johnson said. “I should have known I would oversleep.”
Johnson’s roommate, Derek Truman, said he didn’t know when to wake Johnson up.
“After two full days, I just wanted to see how long he could make it,” Truman said.
Nobody expected it to last the entire week.
“I woke up on Friday afternoon and didn’t know what happened,” Johnson said. “I missed every class.”
Johnson said he regrets nothing, though.
“It’s just syllabus week, it’s not like anything happens,” he said.
Meanwhile, Truman said he has had to avoid waking up his roommate as he studies for quizzes and tests he did not expect.
Johnson said he woke up to multiple notifications from Canvas and TopHat from professors and friends making sure he was okay.
“I’m fine,” he said. “I have so many emails I might just take another nap to avoid reading them.”
