Businesspeople everywhere know the dreaded feeling of opening their email inbox on a workday morning, only to see it flooded with lengthy messages that will take all day to read. But thanks to some bright minds at Google, that could soon be changing.
Google announced Tuesday that it plans to overhaul its popular Gmail service by limiting all messages to one character each.
“There’s nothing worse than opening a new message from your boss, only to see that it’s full of long-winded ramblings and unnecessary remarks,“ said local employee and tech wizard Ronald Pendergrass. “This new one-character limit will keep emails focused and on topic.”
“This is a bold new step for the world of email,” explained technological expert Ryan Pitch. “By enforcing this limit, Google is standing up for all email users who just want to spend less time reading their emails and more time with their families.”
“Fed-up users have been demanding a reasonable character limit for years, and now Google has delivered in a big way,” he added.
A few longtime Gmail fans expressed concerns that the new limitation goes too far, and could end up causing more miscommunication rather than saving time. But most users weren’t worried.
“Whenever a company launches a major innovation to move the tech world forward, there’s bound to be some dissenting voices,” Pendergrass said. “But I know Google has their users’ best interests in mind here.”
When reached for comment, Google CEO Sundar Pichai responded, “D.”
