Random freshman also leaves, follows backup QB’s footsteps

To freshman James Mitchall, Tristan Gebbia was the hero he never knew.

So when Gebbia decided the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was not the right fit for him after the quarterback decision came out, Mitchall knew it was his time, too.

“I’ve never heard of that kid,” said head football coach Scott Frost. “Was he on the team?”

Mitchall told The DailyER that he and Gebbia have a connection that was too unique to share.

“I had a class with James,” Gebbia said. “He sat in the back and I sat in the middle. I asked him once for a piece of paper since I only brought a laptop to class and we were taking a quiz.”

Rumors are swirling regarding Michall’s decision.

“I dunno,” sophomore marketing major Carly Smith said. “He used to be in my Intro to Theatre class, but he stopped showing up. I guess he dropped out.”

His professor said that Mitchall had sat in the back on his laptop and participated only once to ask if he could go to the restroom.

When asked if his family supports his decision, Mitchall was confident.

“My mom is proud of me, I know that,” Mitchall said.

Mitchall’s mother did not respond to The DailyER’s request for an interview.

As for right now, Mitchall’s goal is to decide what to do next.

“I might go work at Menards for a little bit,” Mitchall said. “I also thought about becoming famous on Twitch. I just want to keep my options open.”
