Sophomore student more prepared for spring break than tomorrow’s midterm exam

As the semester grinds toward the halfway mark, most UNL students are finishing projects and preparing for midterm exams. Sophomore psychology major, William Diaz, however, has a different perspective on the midpoint of the spring semester.

“I’m planning as much stuff as humanly possible,” reported Diaz, referring to the trip to Mexico he and several of his fraternity brothers will be taking in mid-March.

“We’re going to go snorkeling in the Gulf. I’ve planned a kayak adventure at the nature reserve, and I’m even trying to get the guys to go parasailing with me,” Diaz reported from near the Love Library testing center, where he is scheduled to take the PSYC-201 midterm tomorrow morning at 8:00.

Diaz, who has already been on academic probation once since his freshman year, further described his preparation:

“I bought plane tickets during dead week last semester, so we’re all set there. I even decided to save the money my parents gave me for textbooks to buy souvenirs in Cancún.”

Diaz was later seen passing by the Learning Commons searching for private boat tours on his smartphone.

After completing an extensive research session on scuba courses near the Gulf of Mexico, Diaz finally acknowledged the imminence of his upcoming exam.

“I suppose I should take a look at this now,” Diaz noted as he sat down at his desk and pulled up the class Canvas page, revealing six overdue assignment notifications.

At press time, Diaz was seen logging out of Canvas, checking the UNL academic calendar and searching the Internet for plane departures the week of May 7.
